Bio

DJ e rapper di Compton, CA, che ha esercitato una notevole influenza sul G-funk e sulla west coast in generale durante gli anni '90. Inizia a rappare all'inizio del decennio, quando è ancora un adolescente. Cresce con Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Mc Eiht ed Eazy-E, nomi che in seguito diventeranno leggendari nel rap. Registra per la Priority Records, e nel 1991 realizza "Quik Is The Name", suo album di debutto. I singoli sono "Born And Raised In Compton" e "Tonight": diventano 2 hit della west coast (top 20 dell'r&b chart, "Tonight" finisce nella pop chart), espandendo in tutta la nazione il nome del giovanissimo rapper losangelino. L'LP finisce nella top 10 dell'album chart. Gli album seguenti non riescono a raggiungere i picchi toccati dal primo progetto, e Quik si ritrova all'inizio del terzo millennio con un curriculum da riscrivere completamente. Nel 2000 Quik produce "Balance & Options", LP prodotto dall'Arista Records. Nel 2001 partecipa al brano "Put It On Me", con Dr. Dre e Mimi, inserito nella colonna sonora del film "Training Day". L'MC mette a frutto il suo talento di produttore, realizzando brani come "Buck Bounce", per Eightball & MJG (2001), e "Addictive", per le Truth Hurts e Rakim (2002). Finalmente riscattato, nel 2002 realizza "Under Tha Influence", LP solista, seguito da "Visualism", dell'anno seguente. Nonostante rappresenti un talento della west coast, Quik in questi ultimi 2 progetti lascia l'attitudine west coast, forse troppo forzata per il suo stile, per abbracciare nuove sonorità indubbiamente più personali. Attualmente è il DJ del rapper Aftermath e G-Unit The Game.
